The Ohio University Police Department is requesting your information regarding an arson that occurred at the Ohio University Convocation Center, located at 95 Richland Ave., Athens. During the early morning hours on Saturday, October, 20, officers were dispatched to the area after receiving an activated fire alarm. Further investigation revealed that one of the pull stations had been pulled on the third floor lobby area and several of the No Smoking signs had been lit on fire.
The Ohio University Police Department is requesting your information regarding a vandalism that occurred on the bike path between Mill St and The New Life Assembly of God Church, located at 10 S. Green Dr. Between 2:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2012 and 9:10 a.m. Sunday morning, November 4, 2012, person(s) damaged seven light poles (195, 197, 199, 201, 205, 207, and 209). Cost to replace the damaged lights is estimated at over $6000. This is the third vandalism to the bike path lights in the past several months.

The Athens City Police Department is requesting your information regarding an aggravated burglary that occurred at room 222 of the Sunset Motel, which is located at 135 Columbus Rd. During the early morning hours of Monday, September 24th, two white male suspects forcibly entered the motel room and ordered the victim, at gunpoint, to give up something that he did not know what they were talking about. The suspects then bound the suspect's hand behind his back with tape and ordered him into the bathroom. The suspects then ransacked the room and stole several items. Descriptions of suspects: 1. W/M 5'7" to 58, 180#, 25-30 years old, light brown hair in a crew cut, and a goatee. 2. W/M 6'0" to 6'2", 180#.

The first incident, a breaking and entering, occurred at The Little Yarn Shop, which is located at 49 W. Washington St. Between 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2012 and 8:20 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012, unknown person or persons gained entry into the premises by forcing open a side entrance door. Once inside the business, the cash register was forcibly opened and money stolen.
The second incident, also a breaking and entering, occurred at The Kick Back, which is located at 61 W. Washington St. Between 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2012 and 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012, unknown person or persons gained entry into the premises by breaking the door glass. Once inside the business, the cash register was forcibly opened and money stolen. Also stolen during the incident were several tobacco pipes and jewelry.
The third incident, a theft, occurred at the General Wok, which is located at 707 Chestnut St. Between 6:40 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012, unknown person or persons stole a bag containing a large sum of money. Just prior to the theft being noticed, a male and female couple was in the restaurant and placed an order. After the order was placed, the male and female left the restaurant and did not return.

On January 24, 2012 at about 11:45 AM an 81 year-old Coolville, OH female called into the Athens County Sheriffs Office and reported that someone had entered into her home and had beaten her. When officers of the Sheriffs Office arrived they found that she had been cut on her shoulder and beaten in the face. This would have happened in the late night of January 23 2012 or the early morning hours of January 24, 2012. The front door was kicked in and she was assaulted in her bedroom. Items were stolen from the home.

Between Saturday, August 4th and Monday, August 6th, the person or persons gained entry into the premises by breaking a window. Once inside the business, the person or persons stole a set of keys to a black 1995 4wd Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab and then drove the vehicle off of the lot. The vehicle has not been recovered.
The Nelsonville Police Department is requesting your information regarding a bank robbery that occurred at Citizen's Bank, located at 24 September St. Shortly after 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 20, a W/M with short brown hair and a goatee (see attached picture), entered the bank, brandished a gun, and ordered the teller to give him money. After a large sum of money was provided to the suspect, he fled the area on foot.

The Athens City Police, along with the Ohio State Fire Marshals Office, is requesting your assistance in regards to a house fire that has been determined to be arson. During the unsanctioned block party on Saturday evening, April 28, 2012 shortly after 7:00 p.m., unknown person or persons forced their way into the basement of 11 Palmer St. and set the fire. Residents of the house, containing several apartments, were still inside of the home when the fire was set. The fire caused moderate damage to the home with the basement being damaged the most; two of the apartments were damaged by fire while the other two apartments had smoke and heat damage.

At 12:01 a.m. on Sunday morning, April 1, 2012, a lone gunman entered the Marathon Station dressed all in dark clothing. The gunman was armed with a long gun that was partially concealed under what appeared to be some sort of blanket. After demanding and receiving money, the robber left the store on foot with an unreported amount of cash.

These burglaries are believed to have occurred during the early afternoon, early evening hours and were all similar in regards to entry being made through rear doors on the residences. Once inside, the unknown person or persons were interested in jewelry, cash and electronics, such as Ipads, laptop computers, etc.. During one of the burglaries, a female resident was at home and scared the person or persons away from her resident.

After the business closed, unknown person or persons entered the business and removed start-up cash from the locations in which it was being kept.

At approximately 12:15 a.m., two males forced their way into a residence on N. Congress St. and confronted the husband and wife living there.
In the initial confrontation with the husband, one subject struck him in the head with a pipe and the other subject shot him in the leg with what was described as a small caliber pistol.While one subject watched over the occupants of the house, the other went through the house dumping drawers and ransacking the residence. Both husband and wife were then bound and left in the floor when the two intruders left their home.
Numerous items were taken by the intruders prior to leaving, totaling about $1,500.00. One intruder was described as 5' 10" tall and approximately 200 pounds while the second intruder was described as being taller, approximately 6' 00" and fairly skinny. Both intruders covered their faces with masks of some type and were wearing gloves.

At approximately 12:15 a.m., two males forced their way into a residence on N. Congress St. and confronted the husband and wife living there.
In the initial confrontation with the husband, one subject struck him in the head with a pipe and the other subject shot him in the leg with what was described as a small caliber pistol. While one subject watched over the occupants of the house, the other went through the house dumping drawers and ransacking the residence. Both husband and wife were then bound and left in the floor when the two intruders left their home.
Numerous items were taken by the intruders prior to leaving, totaling about $1,500.00.One intruder was described as 5 foot 10 inches tall and approximately 200 pounds while the second intruder was described as being taller, approximately 6 foot tall and fairly skinny.Both intruders covered their faces with masks of some type and were wearing gloves.

1) The Athens City Police want your information in regards to a home invasion that occurred in Athens during the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 20, 2011. At approximately 12:15 a.m., two males forced their way into a residence on N. Congress St. and confronted the husband and wife living there.
In the initial confrontation with the husband, one subject struck him in the head with a pipe and the other subject shot him in the leg with what was described as a small caliber pistol. While one subject watched over the occupants of the house, the other went through the house dumping drawers and ransacking the residence. The copper tubing, being stored in a building on Railroad St., was part of the system used to provide and maintain ice in the Nelsonville ice skating rink that belongs to the Nelsonville Chamber of Commerce.
3) The Athens County Sheriffs Office is seeking your information regarding the stabbing death of an Athens County man in April of 2011. On April 12, 2011 at 4:48 PM officers of the Athens County Sheriffs Office were called to 5225 Gun Club Road, New Marshfield, Ohio in reference to a homicide. Found at the residence was James Braden McLain who was 43 years of age at the time. Mr. McLain had a number of stab and slash wounds about the head and the neck. The investigation into this homicide is still continuing. Any information that can be provided would greatly be appreciated. During the course of the investigation it is believed that there were at least two people present when this happened. One would be the assailant and the other was just there when this happened.
