The Ohio University Police Department is still seeking information regarding the theft of electronic devices and components from buildings located on the campus of Ohio University . The theft of overhead projectors, electronics and electronic components has been an on-going problem for the University Police for the past several months and has resulted in the loss of thousands of dollars to OhioUniversity .

Information is being sought regarding the theft of a box-van and numerous all-terrain vehicles from two local businesses. The Athens County Sheriff’s Office and the Athens City Police are investigating the theft of a box van from Ambassador Laundry on Stimson Avenue late Sunday night, October 22, 2006 or early morning of Monday October 23rd, 2006. The stolen box-van was then driven to Don Wood Polaris, located at State Route 13, near State Route 550, where persons entered the fenced-in compound area and stole fourteen (14) ATV’s. The box-van was recovered later Monday morning at a motel nearStringtown Road and Interstate 71 South in the Columbus, OH area.

The Athens City Police are requesting your information regarding the theft of motor vehicles from the city. Since July of 2006, sixteen (16) vehicles have been reported stolen and later recovered within Athens or Athens County . Athens Police believe that the person or persons responsible for these thefts have actually been involved in the theft of items from parked vehicles, such as compact discs, cell-phones, change, etc…and found the keys to the vehicles either in the ignition or elsewhere in the car. Several of the vehicles have been located in the Nelsonville and Chauncey, OH area.

The Athens City Police are requesting your assistance in several vehicular fires that occurred early Sunday morning, October 29th, 2006, at approximately 4:45 a.m., after the Halloween block party. A car was lit on fire while it was parked onW. Washington St. near Smith St. and minutes later; two more vehicles were lit on fire while parked on Maple St.

An aggravated robbery is being investigated by the Athens City Police Department that occurred on Sunday morning, October 29th , 2006 shortly before4:30 a.m. The victim, a white male, had entered the residence of 84 N. Court St.and as he walked down the hallway, was confronted by a white male, 25 –30 years of age with blonde hair. This subject showed the victim a gun and then led him out of the building, around the corner and onto E. Carpenter St. and into the doorway of 17 E. Carpenter St . The suspect then demanded his money that he gave up. The suspect then left 17 E. Carpenter St. and got into a dark-colored, olde r model pick-up truck that appeared to be in good shape and that was being driven by a white female, blonde hair and who appeared to be 22 – 23 years old.

On September 9th, 2006 shortly before 11:00 p.m., a white male entered the drive-thru area of the Happy Cat on W. Union St. and accosted a visitor to Ohio University. The subject was wearing a pair of blue-jean shorts beneath the knees, a gray hoodie sweatshirt and had a blue bandanna covering his face. He brandished what was described as a butcher knife and forced the visitor into the office area of the business where he demanded him to open the register. When he failed to do so, the subject attempted to open the register himself but was unsuccessful. He fled when an employee of the business began towards the office area.
Athens Police Department’s Canine, Jersey, was able to track the suspect towards the Ohio University Credit Union on S. Shafer St. and then towards the West Green of Ohio University where the suspect was lost near Ryor’s Hall.

Athens City Police want your information regarding the continual theft of nuts and bolts from the bike path bridge located off of Currier St. Several incidents have been reported where the nuts and bolts were removed from the structure at this location.

The Athens City Police are seeking your information regarding an armed robbery that occurred on Saturday evening, September 9th, 2006, at 201 W. Union St.
At approximately 10:57 p.m., an unidentified white male entered the Happy Kat drive-thru and accosted a subject who was visiting friends at Ohio University, shoving him into the office of the drive-thru. The subject then demanded money from the register but due to not working at the business, the visitor was unable to accommodate the suspect who was armed with a knife. The suspect then attempted to open the cash register but was unsuccessful.
An employee then entered the office and scared the suspect away. The suspect fled through the rear-door and towards the Ohio University Credit Union located on S. Shafer St. Athens’ Police Department’s K9, Jersey, then tracked the suspect to Ryor’s Hall on the west green where the scent was lost.
The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5’07” tall with a thin build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, below the knee blue jean shorts and tennis shoes. During the robbery, the suspect placed his hood up over his head and covered his face with a blue bandanna.

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office is still seeking information on the July break-in of the Athens County Dog Shelter located on State Route 13 near Chauncey, OH. During the weekend, unknown person or persons forcibly entered the dog shelter and stole a shotgun and several different types of medications used in veterinary practices.

A July robbery of an elderly female occurred at the Kroger’s parking lot and the Athens City Police are seeking your help in obtaining information regarding this robbery. The victim was returning to her vehicle after shopping when she was approached by a subject who witnesses identified as being a white, male with a black tee-shirt with some type of “crest-like” design that covered most of the back of the shirt. Tennessee appeared in large letters above the design. He was estimated at being approximately 5’08”/09” in height, average to slim build and his hair was wavy and cut above the shoulders. This subject grabbed the victim’s purse from under her arm and fled the scene where he got into an older model, dark Honda that was described as being old and beat up.

The vehicle left the parking lot of Kroger in a hurry and turned onto E. State St. and then turned into the far-east neighborhood where the car stopped and the male subject got out and went into a yard or empty lot and disposed of the purse. This robbery occurred on Sunday evening July 2nd at approximately 5:00 p.m.

The Athens City Police are still seeking information regarding the March 9th, 2003 homicide in which an Ohio University student was shot and killed and another OU student wounded. Terrence Ross, also known as T-Ross, and the other student were sitting in a car in the parking lot of the University Commons when the suspect, who Ross was waiting to meet and had spoke with on the phone several times earlier, entered the backseat of the car. Several seconds later, shots were fired at Ross and his friend.Ross died immediately while the friend was able to flee the scene and notify Athens County 911.

The Athens City Police are seeking information regarding numerous breaking and enterings of local businesses and several residential burglaries. Regis’, Russell Riverside, Big Mamma’s, The Ambassador Laundry and Subway were all broken into during the month of July. In most of the incidents, small amounts of money were taken. Several residential burglaries were reported to the Athens City Police during the same period. Jewelry, money, stereo equipment and keys to motor vehicles were taken during these burglaries.

The Athens County Sheriff is seeking information regarding the robbery of the Rite-Aid Pharmacy in The Plains, OH. A white male in his twenties and described as approximately 6’00” and 200 pounds, entered the pharmacy on June 17th, 2006, a Saturday evening, and demanded that the pharmacist give him the oxycontin. The robber, wearing a gray t-shirt, black jean shorts and tennis shoes, then left the business with an unknown amount of the narcotic.

The Ohio University Police Department is seeking information in regarding the thefts of computers, computer components and projector equipment from buildings located on the Ohio University Campus.
A Benq LCD monitor and a Net Data computer tower was reported stolen from an office of the Resident Director of Brown Hall during the middle of April and a computer was reported being stolen from Alden Library. A Gateway laptop computer was reported stolen from the room of a Wilson Hall resident during the past two weeks while a Sharp LCD projector, located in room 123 of Grover Center, was reported as being stolen in January of this year.

Ohio University Police are also seeking information regarding the vandalism of several lights located on the bike path.Six lights had been damaged, by being removed from their pedestals and left lying on the ground, during the late evening hours of Friday May 6th, 2006.

An Ohio University student reported being assaulted during an attempted robbery during the early morning hours of Sunday May 14th, 2006 at Seigfred Hall. According to the victim, three males approached him, one demanding his wallet, which he refused. He was then pushed two times into the wall of the building resulting in injuries to his arm from a window being broken. All three suspects were described as black males with one wearing a light blue, short sleeved shirt with some of logo and ear length, dread-locks.

The Athens City Police are seeking information on the passing of counterfeit money during the month of May. Several local businesses in the city received counterfeit twenty-dollar bills. It is believed that the same person or group of people is responsible for the counterfeit bills being passed.
OTHER:
Information is still being requested by the Athens City Police regarding prior crimes of the month. The theft of a large amount of jewelry during the break-in of Whites Mill is still being investigated and even though people of interest have been identified, information is still needed in solving the break-in. An armed robbery at Prokos Gas on Easter Sunday still remains under investigation. As in the Whites Mill break-in, a suspect has been identified but information is also still needed to prosecute the person responsible.

The Athens City Police are seeking information in regards to two major crimes which have occurred in the City of Athens (CASE #7 & #8).
On Easter Sunday evening, April 16th, 2006 at approximately 9:30 p.m., a black male entered Prokos Gas I at 544 Richland Ave. and demanded the employee give him the money from the register. The suspect than showed the employee that he had a weapon on him and the employee gave him money from the register.
The suspect than left the store through the front doors and was last seen going towards the apartment complex located towards the rear of the gas station. The suspect was described as a black male, 5 feet 06 inches to 5 feet 08 inches with a close-cropped hair cut.

White’s Mill, located on State Route 682, reported that their business had been broken into during the weekend of March 11th and 12th. Forced entry was made into the business and a large amount of jewelry was removed from the store.

The Athens County Sheriffs Office is seeking information in regards to a residential burglary of a residence on Meadowbrook Rd. near Albany, OH. On March 1st, a resident reported that his home had been broken into and several hand-made black powder rifles, home-made knives, powder horns and a dulcimer were taken.
A tall slender male subject in a black hooded jacket was seen at the residence near the time of the burglary.

Ohio University Police are seeking information on an assault that occurred onApril 23rd, 2006 during the early morning hours. The assault took place in OU parking lot 104, near Riverpark Towers and the victim required treatment of his injuries at O Bleness Memorial Hospital.
The suspect in the assault was described as a white male, 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall, 210-225 pounds and approximately 20-23 years of age. His hair was described as brown, shaved on the sides and spiked on the top. He was wearing a dark colored polo shirt and blue jeans. Based upon witness statements, the suspect may have had cuts on his knuckles and a possible black eye. The suspect left towards the Riverpark Tower apartments.

The Ohio University Police Department is seeking information in regards to several thefts that have occurred on the campus of Ohio University. Reports of overhead, ceiling projectors, computers and electronic equipment from different buildings on campus have been reported to the Ohio University Police Department within the past several weeks. Also, they were informed of the theft of twenty-three cases of soft drinks and juice from vending machines located in the lobby of Jefferson Hall.

During February/March 2006, the Athens Police Department has received several complaints in regards to businesses being broken into. These businesses include the China Fortune Restaurant, Ambassador Laundry, Casa Lopez, Monroe Muffler, City Limits BP Station and local schools located in Athens. The Athens City Police is seeking information in regards to an assault that occurred during the early morning hours of Saturday February 4th, 2006 during Sibs Weekend at Ohio University. Four individuals were approached and assaulted by five or six unidentified subjects while walking on E. Union St. near Jefferson Hall. All suspects were described as college aged, wearing polo shirts and dress shirts that buttoned down the front. One suspect was described as having curly blonde hair while another was described as having long blonde hair. Victims of the assault were treated by Southeastern Ohio Emergency Medical Services(SEOEMS) and released.

The Nelsonville Police Department is seeking information in regards to a robbery that occurred on January 22, 2006 at 10:44 p.m. in an alley across from Pine Grove Apartments. The Nelsonville Police report that the victim was walking when he was confronted by three white males who were described as being in their early twenties and wearing black, hoodie jackets. After being assaulted by one of the suspects, personal belongings and the victims pants were taken from him. The victim of the robbery was taken to Doctors Hospital for treatment of injuries received in the assault/robbery.
